Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has hailed compatriot, former colleague and Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho as the best coach of all time.
The Portuguese was full of praise for Mourinho and has paid tribute to his ‘unique’ style of working and coaching.
Villas-Boas worked alongside Mourinho as his assistant manager at Porto, and has described the experience as unique and one of the most influencing factors in his development as a manager. The 35-year old worked with the Special One at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, Porto
and Chelsea before embarking on his own managerial career.
The Portuguese has hailed Mourinho for his contributions to football and has described working alongside him as a privilege and an honour.
Speaking to Brazilian press, Villas-Boas said:
“Mourinho is perhaps the best coach of all time. Working with him was a unique experience. It’s difficult to find someone with so much professionalism, dedication and knowledge of the game.”
“Luckily he saw in me a good professional in the studying of matches and of opponents. It was a privilege to work with him and learn his training methods.”
The young manager was keen to dismiss any comparison between himself and Mourinho. Both managers enjoyed success at Porto before heading to Stamford Bridge to manage Chelsea, leading to many comparing both managers. However, Villas-Boas thinks otherwise:
“They’re made by people outside the game. We’re not concerned with seeming like anybody or working with anybody. We might have ways of leading which people could think are similar, but it’s not imitation.”
The manager then went on to hail the impact of Sir Bobby http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robson-c31388 on his career and revealed that the Englishman also helped him out during his time with Porto.
The Portuguese has recently silenced his doubters and critics after taking Tottenham up to 4th spot following the 1-2 win over Sunderland. Spurs have now managed three consecutive victories in the league, and are only 2 points behind Chelsea.
It seems like Villas-Boas has finally taken to life at White Hart Lane and is watching his football philosophy and approach bearing fruit. After an unsuccessful stint with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Villas-Boas looks set to prove himself in the Premier League.
