Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is hopeful over a quick return for summer signing Moussa Dembele, who is struggling with a hip injury.
The Spurs manager hopes that he will not be without the Belgian star for long after he revealed news about the midfielder’s injury.
Dembele has suffered a recurrence of the hip injury that had sidelined him for Fulham last season. The player spent most of the time trying to remain fit, but has suffered a setback as he missed out on Tottenham’s last game.
Tottenham missed the Belgian’s presence in midfield as Chelsea ended their four-game winning streak. The European champions ran riot as they scored 4 goals at White Hart Lane, and maintained their unbeaten run in the league.
Spurs were also without Welsh starlet http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422, who just had a baby boy with his wife. The Welsh winger’s absence also felt as Tottenham lacked directness and pace.
Villas-Boas bemoaned the injuries that have hit his key players, but praised Chelsea for their brilliant midfield performance. The Portuguese manager also backed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 for the title after the Blues thrashed his team.
The manager will be under some pressure after losing his first game at home, and will be hoping for a quick return by all his star players.
Speaking about Dembele’s injury, he said:
"Top players are missed. He had a scan, but we haven't seen the results yet. He suffers discomfort and pain on his hip which is not something that shows on the scan so it's difficult to assess."
Dembele has been a big hit at the Lane following his £15million deadline day move from Fulham. The player sustained an injury during Belgian’s 2-0 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scotland-c756 in the international fixtures that took place last week.
The versatile midfielder has struggled with this injury at Fulham, and missed last three games towards the end of last season.
"He had a chance to play (yesterday) and had a late fitness test but the pain didn't go away. It's something that comes back to him. He fell awkwardly in the Scotland game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 and felt the pain,” Villas-Boas added.
