Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas insists that he will not be selling http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 in the winter transfer window.
The Portuguese manager said that the Togolese centre forward still has a major part to play in Tottenham’s plans for this season and the seasons to come.
The striker spent last season on loan from current English champions Manchester City, and scored 17 goals as he became a local favourite.
The player had previously been an http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 player. He then made a high profile move to Manchester City when Mark Hughes was appointed manager and the City underwent an ownership change.
He however soon quickly fell out of favour and was moved down the pecking order when City bought more high-profile players and went on a spending spree.
Adebayor then was sent on loan to Real Madrid in the winter transfer window in the 2010/2011 season, and later moved to White Hart Lane for a season long loan spell.
The striker quickly became a fan favourite and turned from villain to hero as he became Spurs’ top scorer. The player was expected to be signed permanently by the North London club this season, but problems regarding his salary and transfer fee slowed down
the process.
Adebayor finally made his move towards the end of the summer transfer window, but has yet to start a match for the team this season. This is partly down to his injury troubles and Jermain Defoe’s impressive form up front.
Reports linked the Togolese to a move away from the club in the winter after speculation claimed that the striker was unhappy with his role at the club. However, Tottenham manager Villas-Boas insists that Adebayor will have to be patient and wait for his
chance. He said:
"Obviously, every player wants to play, at the moment we are using the structure of one striker and Defoe has been doing extremely well.”
"At the moment we haven't found the comfort in that formation yet, but in the future when we use it, when we rotate the strikers he will be back in contention."
When asked if the player will be leaving in January, Villas-Boas replied:
"No, I don't think so. I don't think the club will be willing to let anyone go."
