Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is eager to end Chelsea’s unbeaten run as the Blues travel to White Hart Lane tomorrow, but insists that the game will not be a personal revenge against his former employers.
The Portuguese manager is desperate to end http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786’s unbeaten run in the league as he prepares to host the European champions and league leaders for tomorrow’s London derby.
The game is arguably the pick of the bunch for this weekend’s Premier League action as both teams are in-form and have managed a consecutive number of wins.
Tottenham, after starting off the season poorly despite adding to their squad considerably, have now managed 4 consecutive wins in the league under Villas-Boas. This run includes the surprise 2-3 win at Old Trafford against Manchester United; Tottenham’s
first away win against the Red Devils in nearly 23 years.
However, Villas-Boas is aware of the threat that Chelsea pose, and is not taking them lightly. The Blues are unbeaten in the league and sit at 1st spot, with 19 points from 7 games. Chelsea also have conceded the fewest number of goals in the
league, and boast of quality players such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707.
Villas-Boas acknowledged that the game against Chelsea will be all about revenge, but not the kind many are expecting it to be. The Portuguese manager was sacked by the club last season after only 6 months in charge. Since then, Chelsea went on to win the
FA Cup and the Champions League.
The manager says that the game is not a personal vendetta, and that his players are aiming to exact revenge for different reasons altogether. He said:
"In the end there is one thing which has been to a certain extent blown out of proportion in some ways - this is certainly not a personal matter. It counts as three points. It doesn't win us a trophy.”
"To a certain extent I feel this is much more about Tottenham in the sense that it is the team who took this club out of the Champions League. This is the team who prevented this team from playing in the FA Cup final last year. So, in the end, we certainly
have ingredients for it to be a spectacular match."
