Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas faces a goalkeeper selection headache as he prepares for tomorrow’s game against Chelsea at White Hart Lane.
The Portuguese manager may recall http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 in place of the American in last week’s 2-0 win against Aston Villa.
Starting Hugo Lloris was a surprise move by the manager, considering Friedel’s spectacular form in goal for Spurs. Villas-Boas had ended Friedel’s astonishing run of 310 consecutive starts in the Premier League by opting to start the Frenchman and resting
the American.
This was Lloris’ Premier League debut after the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 national team skipper moved to White Hart Lane from Lyon. Considering the player’s status, many were sort of shocked when he failed to break into the Spurs starting 11. The player was only handed two
starts in the Europa League, and mostly bided his time on the bench as Friedel continued to impress.
Many thought the American’s role at White Hart Lane may have come to an end after the Villa game, but Villas-Boas insists that this is not the case. Friedel may be recalled against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 tomorrow considering the nature of the game and the player’s experience
in such fixtures.
Speaking to the press, Villas-Boas said:
"They compete for a position. In the end, we have made Brad the No.1 for the beginning of the season and we still see Brad as No.1, a player who has been tremendous in goal for us. We respect that.”
"http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-c16384 has been tremendous for us in exactly the same manner. It is obviously a decision I have to take, which I will take [for this game] and in the future.”
"Brad is in form, but so is Hugo. He has done brilliantly this week for France. So competition will continue between the two. The decision will be left before the game."
With both teams in form, tomorrow’s London derby is all set to be a thrilling and feisty encounter. Tottenham will be eager to end Chelsea’s unbeaten run as they look to continue their winning streak in the league. Playing at home, Tottenham will be disappointed
if they take nothing from the game.
