Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas had admitted that he may not make any signings in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Portuguese said that he is not expecting to be very active when the transfer window re-opens next month, and is happy with the shape and depth of the Spurs squad.
A host of players have been linked with a move to White Hart Lane this season, with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Willian-c36898 strongly linked with the club. However, Villas-Boas has said that that he does not
expect to be very active, and if Spurs do sign a player, it will be on deadline day.
Speaking to reporters, the manager revealed his plans and said:
“You won’t see Tottenham doing anything in the beginning of January, if we do anything. Buying during the season is not as effective as buying at the start. I think we are comfortable with how things are.”
The manager did however admit that there may be a few departures from White Hart Lane in January. The club’s goalkeepers http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953 and Hugo
Lloris.
Both goalkeepers have been in exceptional form this season, rotating between games and putting in excellent performances for the team. Villas-Boas is said to be very happy with both players, and may allow Gomes and Cudicini to leave the club in January so
they may get more playing time elsewhere.
He added:
“With Gomes and Cudicini we will listen to proposals. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy and I spoke about the January situation and the eventuality that we could look to strengthen the squad to be better.”
With the return of Scott Parker and Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Tottenham will have reasonable options on the bench and considerable squad depth. The manager is satisfied with the team, and believes that the return of both players will give them more strength and
an 'extra edge'. Villas-Boas added:
“Our squad will become big with the return of injured players. I believe they will give us an extra edge."
