Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is not taking things lightly as he prepares to host league leaders http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, for tomorrow’s London derby at White Hart Lane.
Many are expecting the game to be a thrilling encounter between Villas-Boas and his former employers. The Portuguese was appointed as Chelsea boss last season, but was sacked after only 6 months when he failed to get a string of decent results.
The manager’s sacking was premature, but nothing out of the ordinary. Chelsea are known to be very impatient with most of their managers, and have lacked stability where it matters, despite being the most successful club in London in recent seasons.
Since then, Villas-Boas witnessed Chelsea win the FA Cup and the Champions League under http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo. The Portuguese was then appointed by Tottenham Hotspur this summer, and has settled into his new role quite well.
The manager led Tottenham to 4 consecutive wins, and with Chelsea on an unbeaten run, Saturday’s clash is going to be a feisty encounter. Many are calling the game a personal endeavour for Villas-Boas. The manager admitted that he is looking for revenge,
but not in the way many are expecting.
The Portuguese boss said that his players will be seeking revenge against Chelsea because they prevented Spurs from playing in the Champions League this season by winning the trophy, hence securing their place in this season’s elite European competition
at the cost of Tottenham.
Villas-Boas recently managed a popular and historic win against Manchester United in their own back-yard, and has seen a rejuvenated Tottenham side since then. The manager is however not taking things lightly and knows the Blues pose a different and sterner
challenge.
He is however looking forward to meeting his former colleagues when Chelsea travel to the Lane tomorrow. Villas-Boas said:
"I'm going to see people who mean a lot to me, people who are part of my development as a coach. I certainly feel I have become a better coach because of them. They have helped me a lot on my development of career. People who gave everything for me, obviously
it is special to encounter any team you have played or belonged [to] in the past.”
