Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas insists that he is open to the idea of the appointment of a technical director at the club.
It is understood that club chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy has been keen on appointing a technical sports director at the club for quite some time. Previous manager Harry Redknapp was not open to the idea as it would’ve made him answerable to someone higher up the
club’s hierarchy regarding squad matters.
Levy has been working on overhauling and changing the management and structure of the club, as was evident this summer. Harry Redknapp had not agreed with a lot of ideas and the club parted ways with the manager after the 2011/2012 season came to an end.
Former Porto and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss Andre Villas-Boas was appointed as manager during the summers, and Levy insists he is the right man for the job.
The Portuguese tactician’s move to White Hart Lane was met with a mixed reception. Many had their doubts about the move, especially considering his unsuccessful 6-month stint at Stamford Bridge. Other had high hopes and thought the manager could go on to
do great things with the club.
Villas-Boas spoke in a press conference and said that he and Levy enjoy a healthy work relationship and see eye-to-eye on most matters. Speaking about the technical director proposition, the manager said:
"I have worked with one at Porto and Academica and had no issues with that and I certainly promote that. In the end the structure that surrounds the football club is down to the chairman.”
"I certainly think he is looking to further evolve in terms of the structure that surrounds the club."
Italian club Roma’s general manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at White Hart Lane, but Villas-Boas says that he has no preference and would like to leave the decision up to Levy.
"It is not up to me to decide, it's up to the chairman," the 34-year-old added. "There are discussions and talks but in the end it is a club decision."
Spurs travel tonight to face Carlisle City in the Capital One Cup tonight, where Villas-Boas will be targeting a third successive domestic win.
