Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is planning a major squad overhaul as he looks to add the final touches to the Spurs squad before the new Premier League season starts.
It is understood that five first team players have been asked to leave the club.
The manager had been contemplating which players will be offloaded come the start of the season, and has now decided who will be on their way out of White Hart Lane.
Tottenham’s pre-season tour had been an opportunity for many players to stake their claim for first team action, and Villas-Boas had intended the pre-season to assess the needs of the squad.
The Portuguese had overseen a number of games, and has apparently made up his mind regarding five players who he feels can be allowed to leave the club in order to make way for new signings that will strengthen the squad.

It comes as a surprise to see the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Bentley-c10435 on the list.
Gallas has been a first team regular for the club ever since he moved there from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 from Ajax and the rise of youngster Steven Caulker from the
youth set up put the Frenchman’s career at White Hart Lane in question. Gallas’ age could also be a major factor in the manager’s decision.
Bentley had been promised a ‘clean slate’ by the manager, but perhaps failed to take advantage of it in pre-season and joins the exit list. The player had once been tipped to be a future star, but never managed to live up to all the expectation.
Spurs are apparently pursuing Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao, and are also still keen on bringing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 to the Lane. Villas-Boas intends on freeing up space in the squad before he makes any more additions to it, with two striker signings his
major priority.
