Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas reflected on the 2-4 defeat against Chelsea at White Hart Lane this past weekend and hailed Chelsea’s ‘brilliant’ midfield.
The manager, seeking revenge against his former employers, looked like a disappointed figure after the final whistle. Chelsea had run riot, dominating the greater part of the game and emerged the victors at the end of the 90 minutes.

Chelsea had other plans, and they fired three quick goals, which rocked Tottenham and the home crowd. Juan Mata was outstanding as he scored a brace and set up substitute http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 goal.
Tottenham were humbled, and lost at home for the first time this season. Chelsea’s midfield proved too strong for the hosts, and Chelsea maintained their top spot in the league table.
Villas-Boas was without star player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422, who was greatly missed on the left wing. The Welshman's absence prevented Tottenham from being direct and penetrative, and they couldn’t pose much of a threat for the Chelsea back four.
Speaking to the press after the game, Villas-Boas bemoaned injuries to his key players, but paid credit where it’s due as he praised Chelsea’s stunning midfield performance.
"The game was won by the individual brilliance of Mata, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eden-Hazard-c11863."
"They can unlock doors and cause problems. They are extremely creative and extremely good. I signed Mata when I was at Chelsea and I am not surprised he I snow playing so well for another manager."
"The trio up behind the striker were amazing. They are on top of their games and so are Chelsea at the moment. They are like Manchester City were at this stage last season."
