Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas was delighted with his team’s performance in the 1-0 win over Swansea City last night, and was extremely relieved with their rise back into the top 4.
The manager admitted that it would have been a disaster had Tottenham not managed to secure the victory over Swansea at White Hart Lane last night.
Tottenham had dominated the majority of the match against a very impressive Swansea side. The Swans have managed very decent away form recently, but Tottenham have also been in good form. Both teams had experienced defeat last weekend against Everton and
Norwich City, and were looking to bounce back in last night’s game.
Swansea played with grit and tenacity, but Tottenham had the home advantage and were the better team over the 90 minutes. The home side were finally awarded for their discipline and hard work when Belgian defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 scored in the 75th
minute of the game.
The game ended with Vertonghen’s goal being the difference between both teams. Tottenham finally managed to hold on to a lead and managed a victory after last week’s dramatic defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019.
Spurs had conceded goals in the dying minutes of their last 10 games, and this was something that manager Andre Villas-Boas had intended to work on.
The result puts Tottenham back into the top 4, much to the delight of Villas-Boas. The manager was pleased with the victory and said that it was a fitting result:
“Yes it was difficult to win but I think that if there was one team that deserved to win this game it was us. We had a lot of opportunities, 23 shorts and bigger share of possession. We were patient and persistent in what we were trying to do and we kept
moving the ball well.”
“Swansea defensively were very good and it was difficult to break them down but still we had so many chances that it could have been extremely unfair to have come out with only a point from this game. It was good for us, it was a hard fought win and I think
it was truly deserved.”
