Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is relishing the clash against former club Chelsea today, and will be relying on his knowledge of the club and its tactics to clinch a win.
The former Porto and Chelsea boss will square off against the club he was sacked from earlier this month. Villas-Boas had been appointed as Chelsea manager last year after much hype and excitement, which primarily resulted from his successful exploits with
Porto.
The tactician led Porto to the Portuguese quadruple, which included a Europa League win and a 30-game unbeaten run in the Portuguese Liga.
The manager’s career at Stamford Bridge was however short lived as he was sacked after only 6 months into his appointment. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo, Villas-Boas’ assistant manager, took over and then led the club to an FA Cup win and a historic and very unlikely
Champions League win.
Chelsea, despite being average at best for the greater part of the season, were finally European Champions after years of waiting.
Villas-Boas gave a lot of interviews before the big game, and spoke about his unbeaten run with Porto, arguing that it remains a much bigger achievement than Chelsea’s Champions League win.
The manager has risked the wrath of Chelsea fans and supporters by making this claim, but it does make sense if you think about. Tottenham and Chelsea are both in form as they square off against each other at White Hart Lane. Villas-Boas insists that his
side can pull off an upset, and that his past knowledge about Chelsea gives him the upper hand.
"Obviously it's something I have to my advantage but the players know exactly as much as I do from their own experience playing Chelsea. I'm going to see people who mean a lot to me. I certainly feel I have become a better coach because of them. They have
helped me a lot on my development of career and it is special to encounter any team you have played or belonged in the past,” he said.
Tottenham are on a 4-game winning run, while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 remain unbeaten in the league. Today’s match is all set to be a thrilling and enticing encounter.
