AVB has revealed that Tottenham’s central defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ledley-King-c21859 might decide to call it quits as far as football is concerned after battling with knee injuries throughout his career in the English Premier League...
Villas Boas has revealed that Ledley King might consider retirement after battling with his knee injuries continuously during his time with Tottenham Hotspur. King has been a loyal servant for Tottenham despite the lack of silverware
at the club. The Englishman who has been regarded as an http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 national team player in the past has significantly lost his fitness levels due to his knee problems which refuse to go away despite sophisticated treatment at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham failed to make it into the UEFA Champions League due to their 4th place finish last season as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 won the UEFA Champions League final. Villas Boas has been active for Tottenham as their new manager following
Harry Redknapp’s departure and one of his main priorities has been to sort out their squad issues.
If King decides to part ways with football in the present transfer window, AVB will be responsible for bringing in a replacement. Not only that, Tottenham’s defence has been their main Achilles heel and thus King’s exit will only
exacerbate that problem.
Andre Villas boas said, "I spoke to him on Tuesday and there are still discussions regarding what the best step is. It is very unfair for me to extend myself because Ledley has a tremendous past as a footballer and it is up to
him to share with you what his decision is."
King’s contract with Tottenham is set to expire this summer and he only played 23 matches for Tottenham last season which begs the question as to whether or not Tottenham are actually better off with King’s retirement rather than
his stay at the club.
It will be interesting to see who steps up to replace King but the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288 and Younas Kaboul are the two favourites who have proven themselves in the past. However AVB will feel that Tottenham do require a bit of
strength in the defensive department if they want to compete on several fronts in the future.
