The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager has confirmed that there have been no new approaches from clubs with renewed bids to sign the Croatian midfielder whose relationship with Villas Boas as well as the club itself has turned sour following
his refusal to train for them earlier on in the week...
Andre Villas Boas has confirmed that there have been no new bids from any of the interested clubs for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 as the player has been punished with a fine due to his refusal to train for the North London club earlier on in the
week.
Ever since the start of the summer transfer window, Luka Modric has been a subject of speculation as his future at White Hart Lane looks bleak. Harry Redknapp’s failure to lead Tottenham to UEFA Champions League football for next
season caused Levy to dismiss the former Portsmouth man but it has also had an effect on the players at the club who want regular European football.
Modric who signed a new contract at Tottenham last year is now adamant on leaving the club with Real Madrid being the favourites to sign the Croatian maestro. Modric has been central to Tottenham’s style of play over the last three
seasons and he has been a consistent performer for Spurs at least in the English Premier League.
Villas Boas said, "There is no news at the moment. The player is training in London. There have been no further bids, no improved bids. The value hasn't been met for what we think is correct. We have a big squad and we are fielded
in most of the positions, so we just have to wait and see how that deal goes or doesn't go.”
He added, "If the player eventually stays, he is a player of fantastic talent for us and will certainly add to our squad." Tottenham will be wary of the fact that they might be better off cashing in on an unhappy star rather than
letting Modric become a nuisance as far as the first team squad at the club is concerned. However the former Carling Cup winners have made it clear that they will not sell Modric unless their evaluation of the player is met with a concrete transfer bid.
