Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has targeted a dominant form at White Hart Lane, and believes that it will be key in securing their place in the top 4 at the end of the season.
The Portuguese tactician is hopeful his side can maintain their run of excellent form at home and keep their momentum going as they prepare for a busy and festive December.
Tottenham have only lost 2 games at home this season, the 2-4 defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and the 0-1 shock loss at the hands of Wigan Athletic. Despite this, they sit at 4th spot and have been on a recent run of 6 games undefeated at White Hart Lane.
Having had a fairly mixed start to the Premier League campaign and amidst the departure of star players Rafael Van Der Vaart and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, Tottenham struggled at the start to find their rhythm and fluidity.
The new manager also took time to settle in as he attempted to forge a new look Tottenham side that will play his attacking football. Villas-Boas signed the likes of Moussa Dembele, Clint Dempsey, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 and Gylfi Sigurdsson, and obviously
it was going to take time for the team to gel together.
However, the team has now finally started to look like a unit and have put in some impressive attacking performances.
Tottenham have recently been on a fine run, and secured their place back into the top 4 after last week’s 1-0 win over Swansea City. Villas-Boas is hopeful they can continue their winning form at White Hart Lane.
Spurs host Stoke City at home this weekend, and Villas-Boas expects a tough test. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“Hopefully, our home form will continue. It is always difficult in the Premier League as you know. Stoke won’t be easy. You saw how persistent and patient we had to be to get the winning goals against Swansea.”
“It will be important for us to keep on winning. But Stoke are on a magnificent run too, home and away, so they are not an easy team to beat.”
Spurs are currently level on points with Chelsea, and could move to 3rd if they manage a victory over the Potters this weekend.
