Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas was delighted by his players after a historic win at Old Trafford against former English champions Manchester United.
The Portuguese manager had been confident ahead of the tie, and believed that his players had the quality to get a result at Old Trafford. Tottenham’s last win against the English giants came back in 1989 when striker Gary Lineker had earned them all three
points.
The 2-3 win was Tottenham’s first in 23 years, and was a cause of jubilation for the team, the manager and the fans.
Villas-Boas was however quick to deny talks of a title challenge, and insisted that a top four finish remains his first priority. The manager had arrived in the summer, and had talked about winning silverware with the club, but he believes that the Premier
League title remains an unrealistic challenge for now.
When asked whether he believed his side will push for the English title, he replied:
"I don't think so. A couple of days ago, we were exactly the opposite. This is a very special night for us but our quest is to qualify for the Champions League.”
"It is very difficult to go for the title. We understand it is a place where the great teams of this country belong. We want to win a trophy this season - and we want Champions League qualification."
Summer signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814, who has been impressive as of late, put the visitors ahead in the first half through a rampaging run from his own half. The Belgian centre-half left the United defenders for dead as he tucked away the ball into the far post
and gave Tottenham the lead.
This was followed by a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299, who put the ball in the back of the net.

held on for a historic and special win.
