Villas-Boas to consider striker options

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has conceded that he may be forced to look at other options in attack, as a deal for Manchester City’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 appears to have stalled.
Adebayor had been on a season-long loan at White Hart Lane last year and enjoyed success with the team, scoring 17 Premier League goals and achieving double figures in assists. The Togolese forward went from zero to hero and quickly became a fan favourite
at the Lane.
It was understood that the forward was a major priority of manager Villas-Boas, who was keen on signing him permanently. The Portuguese was desperate to sign a striker, since http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 is the only senior striker the club has at the moment. Defoe’s future
is however uncertain, and this raises a lot of concern for Tottenham’s striker prospects.
Villas-Boas is apparently keen on holding on to Defoe as well, considering the impact he can make from the bench. However, the English striker is looking for a role greater than the one he has at Tottenham, and is in search for regular first team football.
Whatever the outcome, Spurs need a forward badly, and they need one now.
Adebayor was understood to be keen on moving to the Lane permanently, but has now refused to make the switch, instead opting to see his contract out with City. The player is reportedly unwilling to take the pay cut in his salary and will not move, despite
the fact that Spurs are/were willing to include a massive signing-on fee for the Togolese.
The player’s financial demands continue to threat the move, and Villas-Boas has admitted that he may be forced to look at other options.
"Obviously there was an interest in Ade but we have a need first for Jermain to get back from his personal tragedy for the team to have further options in the striker position," said Villas-Boas.
"We are still building a team. The team can improve and we are looking to improve it.”
"This is obviously not the final product and as we go through August we have to get the right perspective as to where we can improve and where we will arrive."
