Finland’s ace shuttler, Ville Lang, proves his mettle as he has grabbed Men’s Singles title after hammering Estonia’s Raul Must in the final showdown of the 2012 Estonian International on Sunday, January 15, in Estonia.
Lang, who is currently World Number 42 in Men’s Singles category, has been remained struggling for the last one year and finally gets rid of his quivering run by winning the first tournament of the year.
The Finnish was the top seed in the tournament and remained unbeatable as he did not drop even a single game to any of his opponents in the whole event. In the final contest, he showed no respect to the local challenger and ended the match in straight games.
Lang was uncontrollable for Raul who was having the advantage of home ground and home fans. However, the higher ranked Finnish destroyed the hopes of local shuttler by winning the straight-game match in just 33 minutes.
The start of the opening set was not favourable for Raul as his opponent played flawless badminton. Lang opened his campaign in an impressive manner and set up a wonderful early lead.
The Estonian tried his best but could not match the speed of his challenger in the opening half of first game. On the other hand, Lang was in complete control of rallies and remained far ahead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Lang did not show any sign of dropping down the pace of rallies and remained on track to finish the game with a one-sided and striking margin of 21-8.
In the second set, Raul elevated his play and managed to match the speed of Lang, who became a little relaxed in the opening half of the game.
However, after the interval, the top seed accelerated his speed in all areas of the court and managed to set up a reasonable lead. The Finnish shuttler was focused in the second game and ended it with a reasonable difference of 21-15.
This Men’s Singles final showdown ended with the victory of Lang, who took the fight with a 21-8 and 21-15 score on the board.
