Ville Lang overpowers Emil Holst to claim Men’s Singles title in the Norwegian International 2011
Finland’s Ville Lang have proved his skills as he has claimed the Men’s Singles title after beating Denmark’s Emil Holst in the final showdown of the Norwegian International 2011, in Norway, on Sunday, November 20.
The second seed of the event, Lang, who is currently World Number 45 in the Men’s Singles world rankings, had to dig deep into his reserves to produce killing form against the in-form Danish rival. The Finnish has to work hard against Holst for 45 minutes
and he emerged as the winner in three games.
The second seed Lang played a shaky game in the opening set and lost it with a tight margin. However, he bounced back in superb fashion in the second game and took it with a remarkable margin. In the final game, the Finnish remained on the right track throughout
the set and finished it off with superb difference.
The start of the first game was quite interesting when both shuttlers displayed fantastic show of aggressive badminton and progressed closely in the game. Until the break, no one could take a clear lead.
However, after the break, the Danish shuttler accelerated his speed and dominated the rallies by playing positive badminton. Lang committed some unforced errors in the ending phase of the first game and lost it by a 19-21 score.
Stung by the loss of the opening set, Lang bounced back in the second game with an aggressive approach. He played fast and attacking badminton to put pressure on his opponent and remained successful in his planning. Holst completely failed to continue his
impressive run and remained trailing behind the higher ranked Finnish rival. Lang finished up the set with an incredible score of 21-11.
The deciding game was not different from the second set as Land continued his killing performance and established an early lead. He showed no mercy to Holst in the whole game and played with aggression and precision.
The impressive strokes of Lang found the right areas and he finished the deciding game with a huge difference of 21-10. The contest ended in 45 minutes with a 19-21, 21-11 and 21-10 score on the board.
