Ville Lang powered his way into third round of 2012 Bitburger Badminton Open Grand Prix Gold
Men’s Singles shuttler Ville Lang displayed commendable craft on the court and thrashed Christian Lind Thomsen in the second round of Bitburger Badminton Open Grand Prix Gold on October 31, 2012.
This epic tussle kept the audience intact for 65 minutes before ending with final figures of 21-14, 16-21 and 21-15.
The victorious shuttler prevailed in the opening and ending games of the match whereas Lind Thomsen could show his brilliance only in the middle of the showdown.
Ville Lang set the ball rolling straight away in the beginning of the first set and kept his challenger under control all the way to the final moments.
The Finnish campaigner made his intentions clear by prevailing in seven consecutive rallies and then magnified the impact with an indomitable figure of 11-1.
Later part of the game was also a one-sided affair as the Danish shuttler hardly put any resistance and surrendered in a shameful manner.
Lind Thomsen could not move swiftly across the court and dropped many valuable points in a row.
Ville Lang did not squander this opportunity and served notice of his dominance with a staggering knock of 21-14.
However, the story was entirely different in the very next game as Lind Thomsen showed a transformed character and counter-balanced the situation.
This time he played with right attitude and established a decent lead with a decent total of 7. He did not lose this rhythm and placed a mountainous figure of 11 just before the interval.
After half time, Lind Thomsen picked up some pace and widened the gap with few successive points. He capitalised this flow and left his competitor far behind on points table with 21-16 score.
There was lot of fireworks expected in the decider as both contenders were looking to claim this final match point. They made the crowd gasp with their breath-taking performance and remained equal until 13-13.
At this stage, Ville Lang clinched six points without any interruption and reached to a dominating position of 19-13.
He put a convincing margin of 21-15 and qualified for the pre quarter-finals where he will be meeting Sebastian Schoettler of Germany.
