http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Vinay-Kumar-c2237 relishing his role as India’s front-line bowler – Cricket News Update
Despite the absence of key pacers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/P-Kumar-c2143, India’s pace bowling department has been producing good work over the last few weeks, thanks to Vinay Kumar’s brilliant job.
In the opening three One Day Internationals (ODIs) of the ongoing series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, Kumar grabbed five wickets; however, his stats perhaps do not tell the whole story.
The 27-year-old bowled magnificently with the new ball and showed it to the world that he can be India’s front line bowler for years to come. Kumar himself is enjoying his new role, saying that leading India’s bowling attack at the big stage is surely a
nice feeling to have.
"It feels great to be leading the Indian attack. (Bowling with) the new ball suits me very well because I am more a swing bowler and the new ball helps me a lot," said Kumar in the eve of the fourth one-dayer, set to be played at Indore on Thursday, December
8, 2011.
The seamer also endorsed ICC’s new rule of using separate balls from two ends, saying that it has been helping quick bowlers swing the ball for a longer period.
"It (The rule) definitely helps the swing bowlers. Normally it used to stop swinging after a few overs. Now it keeps swinging till 15 overs. If there is no dew then the ball will reverse," he shared.
Despite his excellent performance in the in-progress clash against the Windies, Kumar was ignored for the upcoming Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. Although, he seemed slightly disappointed over the decision, he refrained from making any comments.
"No, I don't want to say anything about that (ignored for Tests). Definitely, I would love to play Test cricket and hope my day will come," said the Bangalore-based bowler.
The Men in Blue are currently 2-1 up in the competition against the Caribbean Kings. An embarrassing 16-run defeat in the Ahmedabad game was a massive blow for the home side, but Kumar is adamant that the guys are focussed and keen to put up a better show
in the next game.
