Vince Carter, Marcus Camby -NBA Players who might not return if the Lockout lasts for long (Part-2)
Vince Carter
Over the years, Vince Carter has been known for his athleticism and agility. However, his signature spark was nowhere to be seen last season. The shooting guard, who was traded by the Orlando Magic to Phoenix Suns earlier this
year, played 51 games for them and scored at an average of 13.5 points, the lowest output of his career.
Vince’s career scoring average is more than 22 points per game and last season was a clear proof that his old legs are no longer able to bear the load.
Considering the uncertainty surrounding the league and the fact that his performance has started to diminish, Vince might plan to retire from NBA, Another big factor that might force him to call it quits in the fact that his huge
salary is expected to drop down considerably when the league gets back to business.
Marcus Camby
Portland Trailblazers’ big man Marcus Camby has been dealing with injuries throughout his NBA career and has never been able to play all 82 games in a season. The 6 foot 11 inch centre was picked by the Toronto Raptors as the second
overall pick, back in the 1996 NBA draft. Marcus posted his best scoring performance in his rookie season when he averaged 14.8 points per game.
Over the years, he earned the reputation of a dynamic centre, who has the ability to excel on both ends of the court. However, Camby’s offensive ability has dropped down considerably in the last three seasons and he failed to score
at an average of more than 8 points per game. Along with the injuries, a decent shooting percentage also became a struggle for Marcus in the last season as he connected only 39.8 percent of his shots from the field.
Age is undoubtedly a factor is one big reason which has slowed down the big man. With the uncertainty of the lockout looming and no definite answer as to when the league will get back to business, the 37 year old Camby might well
consider to retire.
Anthony Parker
At the age of 36, the NBA career clock for the Cleveland Cavaliers veteran guard Anthony Parker is ticking. If the league fails to make a settlement before next season and lockout prevails, Parker may join the go list along with
many other aging players.
Anthony had a slow start of his NBA career when he was drafted in by the Philadelphia 76ers and he has started to lose pace once again in the final phases of his career. The veteran swingman has been a more than capable option
for the Cavs in the last two year. However, with the focus of the franchise firmly shifted towards youth and restructuring, Parker may not find enough minutes in Byron Scott’s rotation. The lockout might just be the ideal opportunity for Parker to bow out.
