Vince Cleverly says Nathan Cleverly is in a different class compared to Tony Bellew – Boxing news
Nathan Cleverly’s father and trainer, Vince Cleverly, is fully confident that his son will beat the reigning British and Commonwealth champion, Tony Bellew, as he reckons his son his in a different class compared to his bitter rival Bellew.
“I honestly believe Nathan is in a different class to Bellew,” said Vince.
Both undefeated prospects, Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew, will lock horns this Saturday on October 15, 2011 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool and Vince believes his son can also win the bout via technical knockout.
Vince told the media Bellew’s cheekbones are high and since his son is an accurate puncher and he will easily give him cuts.
Vince stated, “He’s more accurate and doesn’t need to look for shots. Look how high Tony Bellew’s cheekbones are, he will be cut, Nathan will slice him up.”
The 24-year-old Welsh warrior, Cleverly, who is a winner of all of his 22 professional fights, with 11 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is aiming to set up a mega-clash with the current World Boxing Council and The Ring Light Heavyweight champion,
Bernard ‘The Executioner’ Hopkins, for a world championship.
However, Vince thinks if his son loses to Bellew this weekend, he will not be a deserving candidate to fight for a world championship belt but on the same note, Vince claimed his son will do a nice job and will win.
“There’s talk of Nathan fighting Hopkins, well if he can’t beat Bellew he has no chance and doesn’t deserve to be world champion. This is make-or-break before the big time for Nathan, but I’m sure he will do a fantastic job. We have left nothing to chance,”
he said.
The 28-year-old Liverpudlian pugilist, Bellew, also has never been defeated in the ring as of yet. He holds a record of winning all of his 16 professional fights, including 10 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. Moreover, Bellew will also have a
home crowd to support him in the Arena. Therefore let’s see if Cleverly can still beat Bellew.
