Vince Signs Weightlifting Champion To A Three Year Deal?

The United Kingdom’s Evening Post is reporting that WWE has signed Rob Terry to a three-year developmental contract. Rob Terry is a 28-year-old weightlifting champion from Wales and moved to America last October taking part in a special training program. He is currently signed to Florida Championship Wrestling.

Rob Terry is 6ft 5ins and 285 pounds, he caught Vince McMahon’s eye after winning virtually every natural bodybuilding event in Britain and Europe according to the article.

As reported on Wrestlzone.com

WQ: What do you think about Vince signing a classically big built and tall guy with no past wrestling experience to a 3yr development deal?

I think that that's Vince being Vince and going on looks instead of talent again. It doesn't really surprise that this has happened, but it really does prove that if you're a guy and have a huge build you can get signed easily. It must really suck for the guys in the indies who work there asses off and may not even get a second look just because their build doesn't fit Vinces characteristics (Though in the rest of the article Rob Terry did say that he is going to work hard).

Most well though and detailed answer gets BA.

  1. Well Vince does sign a lot of weightlifters and body builders. Just think of big names like Batista, Tony Atlas, and Mark Henry. Vince loves size.

  2. I'm not surprised by it honestly.

Vince McMahon and the WWE always concentrate on getting guys that naturally have charisma or naturally have a "larger than life" look for their WWE shows, mainly because people don't really want to see anyone that looks normal. Sometimes, I think of it like a circus, where the more eye-capturing, the better it is for the company. It's not amazing that Vince McMahon and the WWE have another bodybuilder in developmental territory.

If the guy's going to work towards becoming a good wrestler, I'll have to see for myself what the results are.
