Vince Young expected to get another start as Philadelphia Eagles take on Seattle Seahawks – NFL News
Quarterback Vince Young is expected to get his third straight start this season for Philadelphia Eagles as Michael Vick is still struggling to get over with his two broken ribs. Eagles will face Seattle Seahawks in the week 13
game of the National Football League current season on Thursday.
Although Vick did show up in the practice session on Tuesday, he did not participated in it completely and was feeling pain while throwing the ball.
"Vick can't put heavy torque on the ball without feeling some pain." Eagles’ coach Andy Reid said.
Vick’s ribs were broken in the week 10 game of the season against Arizona Cardinals. Since then he has not played any game, giving a chance to backup quarterback Vince Young to make a start.
Young has played four games this season and started two of them. He completed 49 of 85 attempted passes for 658 yards and managed three touchdowns and five interceptions. During the last week lost against New England Patriots 38-20,
he sent 26 successful passes of 48 attempts for 400 yards. He also recorded a touchdown and an interception, but could not prevent the defeat.
This time around, Young is desperate to get victory for his team and said that he wants to lead the team and call the right plays on Thursday.
“I want to go out there and compete and lead my team to combat and make sure that I'm calling the plays right, adjusting and doing all of the different things from practice and bring it out to the game field. So that's pretty much
all that's on my mind," he said.
The chances for Eagles to make it to the post season are almost zero. They have won four games this season and lost seven. They are placed third in the National Football Conference East division. Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants
are competing for the top spot in the division with the former having a complete one-game advantage over the latter.
This makes things more difficult for Eagles, who have much to prove in the remaining games of the season. However, Young thinks that ups and downs are the part of the game and that should not demotivate the players.
“It's not that tough (to stay motivated)," Young said. "I mean, you saw the (New York) Giants go down last night, you know those types of things. So all we have to do is just take care of our responsibilities.”
