Vincent Barnes believes black African players can solve Cricket South Africa problems
South Africa’s bowling coach, Vincent Barnes, has claimed that the team should have more black African players. He believes it will resolve both performance and management issues faced by Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 (CSA). He also said that the team should have
more people of colour in the administration.
According to Barnes, “It is a worry that we don't have as many black African players coming through the system. But, we have to develop coaches and administrators of colour as well. It's no coincidence that players of colour will perform where they are some
people of colour involved as well.”
Barnes further added, “We had so many players of different colours, from different cultures and everyone believed that everyone else deserved to be there. I am determined to find and create opportunities for people of colour.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Makhaya-Ntini-c73953 was probably the only black African player to represent his national side for a long period of time. He played 101 Test games and claimed 390 wickets for his team. He could have reached the 400 mark, but wasn’t able to get much opportunities
to play international cricket. He also featured in 173 One Day Internationals (ODIs), taking 266 wickets.
The 33-year-old retired from International cricket last year in November and was given one last chance to represent his side in a Twenty20 game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
He was unable to make an impression in the match and a Test match or ODI would have been a better send off for the cheerful fast bowler.
Barnes claimed that it wasn’t easy to play under pressure situations and he wanted the black African players to be ready for tougher challenges.
South Africa is known for struggling under pressure situations and they have been tagged as “chokers” for their inability to do well in difficult situations. The team was recently knocked out of the ICC World Cup 2011 in the quarter-final game against New
Zealand. They played well throughout, but failed to handle pressure yet again like the past.
