France’s Vincent Duvignac and Australia’s Dion Atkinson advanced through into the third round (Round of 48) heats at the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 6-Star San Miguel Pro Zarautz after clinching victory in their respective Round 2 (Round of
96) heats that went down at the main event site of Zarautz in Basque Country, Spain, on Thursday, August 30.
America’s Nathan Yeomans made the Round 3 cut as well after finishing behind Duvignac in second place during the 17th heat, whereas Argentina’s Santiago Muniz and Venezuela’s Rafael Pereira were forced to exit the contention for the event title
after finishing in third and fourth place respectively.

from the competition.
With three-to-four foot waves on offer at Zarautz on the latest day of the competition, the huge crowd in attendance expected to get treated to a handful of thrilling performances, looking to secure their place in the next round by putting on a solid performance
in their latest four-man battle.
The 17th heat saw Duvignac take on Yeomans, Muniz and Pereira in a battle of survival. Taking his time to adapt to the conditions, the Frenchman eventually found himself a 7.00 and 6.77-point ride to finish with a resultant heat-total of 13.77
points, thus walking away with the win.
Yeomans finished in second place after posting a 6.07 and 5.80 off his best-two waves to finish with a heat-total of 11.87 points. The effort proved sufficient to take him through into the next round.
Muniz finished in third place with a heat-total of 9.76 points, while Pereira found himself settling for bottom-position after concluding the heat with a two-wave total of 7.53 points.
The next heat featured an impressive performance by Atkinson as he got the better of his rivals in the four-man bout. Getting off to decent start, the Australian surfer continued to build momentum before eventually posting a 6.60 on the score-board. He later
backed it up with a 6.20-point ride, thus finishing with a two-wave total of 12.80 points. The score served to earn him top honours.
Standlick successfully extended his life in the event as well after collecting a 4.00 and 7.83 off his best-two waves for a resultant heat-total of 11.83 points, with the effort putting him in second position.
Ribeiro and Donato did not seem to comfortable out there in the sea and only managed to register a two-wave total of 10.53 and 7.42 points respectively, which resulted in their removal from the contention for the event title.
