In the wake of the 4-1 humiliation at the hands of Valenciennes, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 is hopeful that the defeat against Sunday’s opponents should follow with a strong response
The president of Olympique de Marseille did not like the team’s performance against Valenciennes and is now hoping that the drubbing his team received last night, serves as good education for his players before they take on Paris Saint-Germain.
“There are no such dimensions of sufficiency. That’s how we did wrong in the game, we could not get the ball out. A lot of things did not work. We had a good week, I thought that we were all rejuvenated. But the final verdict is brutal. We need to quickly
return to our best,” said Labrune.
Ahead of the game against Valenciennes, the Marseille defence had let in just one goal. Moreover, the team had made a perfect start to the new campaign by registering six consecutive wins. However, all early achievements would now become a footnote in the
story of this season as Valenciennes slipped past four goals.
Although http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Ayew-c19098 pulled one back in the dying moments, it was just a consolation for Elie Baup’s men who must now turn their attentions towards the season’s first Clasico at Stade Velodrome. Next Sunday, Les Phoceens host Paris Saint-Germain, a team
that is in great form at the moment and has a few players who can definitely put Marseille players to the sword.
While talking about the painful 4-1 defeat, Labrune said that the defeat was a non-match by all means but added that it’s important to move on from that disappointment.
“I hope this will be a wakeup al. It was better that it happened this Sunday rather than next week. But it will not happen next Sunday, we have shown a lot of humility since the beginning of the season. This must be used to return to basics and ensure that
next Sunday, the city and our fans are proud of our team.”
Although the recent defeat is hard to digest, it must be kept in mind that one defeat does not define Marseille season.
