Vincent Labrune looking to fix things at Olympique de Marseille – Ligue 1 news
Following a 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain things are certainly looking up for Rhone giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127.
While talking to the media on Monday, club president/chairman, Vincent Labrune discussed many hot issues at the club that have certainly become a disciplinary problem at the club.
After beating their biggest rivals in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, Marseille should not lose hope of making it to the knockout phases of the UEFA Champions League. In the aftermath of the 3-0 win at Stade Velodrome, Labrune seemed to be in good spirits.
While talking to L’Equipe, the Frenchman said that things can be tricky if a team accumulates just 9 points from 10 games. However, Labrune has said that the club will still try to seal a place in the knockout phase of the UEFA Champions League as it will
be a great financial boost for Marseille.
Labrune revealed that the financial situation at the club is complicated and admitted that there is not a lot of money available at the moment. With the winter transfer window rapidly approaching, Labrune admits that the club needs to buy a few players.
However, the Frenchman thinks that though the club will take risks by plunging into the transfer market, the risks would be calculated gambles. Labrune said that Jose Anigo is currently working on recruiting a few players and will intelligently select players
according to this season’s requirements.
The news is certainly a good one for Didier Deschamps who is keen on seeing some new players at the Stade Velodrome before the second half of the season begins.
While talking about Deschamps’ future at the club, Labrune gave the Frenchman his full support.
“When OM is in a difficult situation, it tends to awaken the dark forces and rumours that put more flame to the fire. All is not rosy but everything is not black either. He has set a course and we will assess (performance) at the end of the season.”
Labrune will also have to take a decision on the recent outburst of Andre-Pierre Gignac. The French striker had a war of words with DD a few days back during a training session and Labrune will have to make a swift decision over the actions of a player who
could be on his way out of the club this winter.
