With Olympique de Marseille continuing their poor run of results in recent games, president, Vincent Labrune, has again stepped into the breach to rally his troops and is confident that the club will get back on track
A three-game losing streak which included defeats against Brestois, Toulouse and Evian TG means that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 have almost ended all their chances of playing in the UEFA Champions League next season.
As things stand, Marseille chase third placed LOSC Lille by eight points which means that Marseille might not feature in the UCL next season. The recent performances delivered by the team are far from satisfactory and the Rhone giants need to get back to
winning ways if they want to feature in Europe at all.
President, Vincent Labrune, is certainly worried about the whole situation. The Frenchman knows that the consequences of not featuring in Europe at all will have serious repercussions. With their current financial issues, Marseille need to play in Europe.
Furthermore, the departure of big-name players could also happen if the club is unable to offer the squad European football.
Labrune is certainly disappointed at how things have shaped up in recent weeks.
“You can imagine that one does not expect until the end of the season to develop various hypotheses. Everything has been calculated a long time ago: a season with the Champions League and one without Champions League in particular.”
However, Labrune also added that things will naturally become complicated if the club fails to qualify for the Champions League. The Frenchman says that even if the club does not play in the UCL, it would not be an end of the world scenario for the club
as he is confident that Marseille have the ability to mount a strong comeback.
Labrune also says that he intends to keep hold of the likes of Andre Ayew, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Valbuena-c24690 and most importantly, coach Didier Deschamps whose future will also be under scrutiny of Marseille offer no European football.
On Friday, Marseille play against AJ Ajaccio and another defeat will take the club further behind the European race.
