The Olympique de Marseille president believes that the Cameroon international is one of the best centre-backs in the world at the moment

The 22-year-old has attracted a lot of interest from a host of top European sides in recent times, following a number of impressive performances for the club and the country.

And Les Phoceens’ president, Vincent Labrune, is of the view that the Rhone giants have one of the best defenders in the world in their ranks, in form of N’Koulou.

Their rivals, Paris Saint-Germain have splashed out 45 million Euros to attain the services of Thiago Silva, believed to be the best centre-back on the planet at the moment.

However, the 41-year-old believes that their star player is as good as the Brazilian.

While taking to reporters, Labrune heaped praise on the 22-year-old citing him the best defender in the country.

The Frenchman stated that he is aware of Thiago Silva’s abilities and what he will bring to the Parisiens. But the president is not much worried about that because he feels that N’Koulou is as strong as PSG’s summer recruit.

"I read rave reviews about Thiago Silva, who is supposed to be the best in the world. I do not know if this is true, but what I believe is that Nicolas N’Koulou is at least as strong as he is.", Labrune told France Football.

Praising his leadership qualities, Labrune said that the Cameroon international is a very strong player, both physically and mentally. The president believes that the 22-year-old has a promising future ahead and he has what it takes to become a world class
defender.

"He is a true leader in defence and has an exceptional mentality. He will go very far in his career and he is destined for greatness.”

Vincent Labrune stated that Marseille’s stance on Nicolas N'Koulou is very clear. Les Phoceens do not want to sell their prized asset at any cost.

"Early in March we said the player was un-transferrable. We wanted Nicolas to be the symbol of our reconstruction."

Nicolas N’Koulou has been an integral part of Marseille over the years, and good things are expected from him in the future.
