The Olympique de Marseille president knows that holding on to the France international would be hard but has said that so far, Tottenham have not made a formal approach for the 25-year-old
Though he wants to stay, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 striker Loic Remy might be sold to English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The France international feels that the time is not right for his to leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899. However, with the way their financial situation seems, the Canebiere club will be forced to sell a few players in order to avoid having a deficit of 35 million euros by June
next year.
Not qualifying for the UEFA Champions League has further worsened the situation for the club. the likes of Nicolas N’Koulou and fellow countryman Stephane Mbia, are already reported to be itching for moves away from the Velodrome which does not bode well
with the 2010 champions of France.
Loic Remy’s campaign this time has been derailed due to constant injuries which is why his statistics for this season (12 goals) are not better than those of last year’s in which he ended the campaign with 15 goals.
Nonetheless, English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the talented striker. The Frenchman has been scouted by Harry Redknapp many a times and the Englishman is likely to make an official bid for him this summer.
However, while talking to media, Marseille president Vincent Labrune said that there has been no formal contact by Spurs. However, the supremo says that they will let Remy leave if the offer is good.
“Tottenham haven’t contacted formally yet. But if an offer is good, we can open the door. Knowing he is at a crossroad in his career and that Tottenham will play Champions League (Chelsea’s win means that Spurs play in the Europa League).”
After Chelsea’s last night penalty-shootout win over Bayern Munich in the final of the Champions League at the Allianz Arena, Spurs are set to miss out on UCL. The picture could have changed in a few hours However, despite this; the Londoners are willing
to spend big on the transfer window.
However, Loic Remy could also have reservations on joining Spurs as he will be playing the same European tournament (Europe League) that Marseille will be playing in next season if he arrives at the White Hart Lane.
