Tampa supports their team very well. The house was at 96% capacity last year when they were the worst team in the league. I am a season ticket holder and I think it is a great move. Now lets go get a winger for Stamkos and we will be building something nice.

  1. Great work by the General Manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Vincent Lecavalier is the main player on the Lightning and now with him locked up they can now look around for players to build around him with. They've already got Dan Boyle, Martin St.Louis, a decent goaltender Mike Smith, Jussi Jokinen and STAMKOS!

They only need a few more players and they could be fighting for a playoff spot next year!

  2. Great move by the Lightning, sucks for the 29 other teams in the league.

  3. I'm so happy i love Vinny! Tampa made a good decision with that. I hope St.louis stays for a long time too, Him and Vinny are great players! Tampa is building a great team!

  4. 77 million dollars must be nice!

    Good for Tampa Bay!

  5. def a smart move on both tampa bays and vinnys part they are a good fit together the player and team

  6. Good for Vinny, the team, and the community.  He does a lot of good work there, especially for the kids in the area.

  7. Good. Hopefully Martin St. Louis stays for that long too.

  8. It's a long time, but it's nice to see a team committed to a player.   Nothing is better to build brand than letting a guy who can do it become the foundation for a team.

Think of Yzerman who was a Wing from draft day to now (retirement + 3 years).  He came to the Wings when they were as dead as a team can be, and after ups and downs, the franchise of today is legendary, to be so successful in a field of 30 teams.

I don't know if Tampa Bay will ever give two shirts about a hockey team, but establishing and sticking to a franchise guy like LeCavalier is a great move, IMO.

  9. AWWW!!! Good for Vinny... i guess he really loves Tampa. Nice move Tampa!

  10. technically it hasn't been signed yet, but I can't wait for Vinny to retire here!

  11. Darn, I was hoping he'd become a Red Wing...

at least he's not in the west.

Great job on Tampas part... good for Vinny too :)

  12. Good idea on both Vinny's part and the team's part.

Edit: where did you hear this?

  13. That will help Barry Melrose whose the New Coach in Tampa, and the new Draft Pick the Lightning is #1 This Year can all learn a lot for LeCavalier.

  14. Assuming this isn't going to create another cap issue, makes perfect sense.

  15. Good for Tampa and Good for Vinny

  16. he want to stay in Tampa
