Vincent Millot and Adrian Ungur make progress at qualifying rounds of Belgrade
Vincent Millot defeats Inigo Cervantes-Huegun 6-4, 7-6(2)
French tennis player Vincent Millot fought through his first match at the qualifying singles of the 2011 Serbia Open, defeating Spaniard Inigo Cervantes-Huegun in straight sets at the tournament to score a 6-4, 7-6(2). The match
lasted just a few minutes under one hour and forty minutes.
It was a lopsided victory for the French player, who is ranked World Number 150 at the moment. He did not play with any finesse, but was good enough to defeat his opponent who is ranked outside the World’s Top 400 players at the
moment. Both players managed one ace during the match, but Millot took the advantage by committing just two double faults against the eight mistakes made by Cervantes-Huegun. Millot was broken thrice during the match, and managed to take revenge against his
Spanish opponent by breaking Cervantes-Huegun four times out of ten opportunities. He took the first set easily, but the Spaniard put up a good fight in the second set and managed to push the meeting into a tie-breaker. His efforts were futile, however, and
he lost the match to Millot.
Vincent Millot defeated the pro 6-4, 7-6(2) and will face Antonio Veic in the next round.
Adrian Ungur undoes Norbert Gombos 6-1, 6-2
Romanian tennis player Adrian Ungur kept his hopes of a main-draw appearance alive at Belgrade, defeating Norbert Gamos of Slovakia in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of the qualifying singles of the Serbia Open. The
match lasted just under 54 minutes.
Adrian Ungur is ranked World Number 170, and has been part of the ATP Tour since 2003. The player stayed in charge of their match, and played a careful match to undo Gombos who committed six double faults and was broken four times
in their first meeting. The Romanian tennis player could not be broken throughout the match. Ungur took the match with an impressive 64 per cent of the total points played during the match.
Adrian Ungur proceeded to the next round of the qualifying rounds with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Norbert Gombos.
