Vincent Millot whips Denis Kudla in 1st round – Knoxville Challenger 2011
French Vincent Millot lashed American Wildcard Entrant Denis Kudla in the first round of the Knoxville Challenger 2011.
The two rivals had battled it out on indoor hard courts of the University of Tennessee’s Goodfriend Tennis Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. On the 9th of November 2011, it took Millot only one hour and eleven minutes
to get rid of American wildcard entrant Kudla in straight sets of 7-6(2), 6-0.
Even though, both the sets were dominated by Millot, the second set was a complete flawless lopsided victory. Overall in the match, Millot had only targeted 56 percent of his first serves but had managed to accomplish a grand 81
percent of his first serve points won.  He had an average return which assisted him in attaining a 48 percent of his total return points but he was quick to capitalize on four out of nine breakpoints won.
Opening the first set of the match was Kudla and he expertly handled his first serve to commence the scoreboard at 1-0. Following behind was Millot and he too held his service game to place himself beside his opponent at 1-1 on
the scoreboard. In the following two games the players once more bagged a game each on their respective serves and the score tied at two games each at the end of the fourth game.
The players tied the score once more at three games each at the end of the sixth game. In the seventh game, the serve switched and Kudla successfully held his service game to take a mini lead of 4-3. During the following two games,
the players bartered in breaks and the score had shifted to 5-4 with Kudla leading the set. However, in the tenth game Millot equalized the score at five games each with a hold of serve.
Subsequently, the set was pushed into a tie breaker as the two once more matched a blow for a blow and bagged their respective serves. During the tiebreaker, the head-to-head run had lost its zeal and zest as Millot took the lead
and rushed past his adversary to triumph the tiebreaker with a score of 7-2, he was now one up in the match.
The second set of the match was a flawless victory for the Frenchman as he did not setup a single breakpoint opportunity for his adversary. Moreover, Millot not only bagged all his service games but also Kudla’s service games and
in doing so; he bagged a bagel set victory of the second set and had managed to reserve a spot in the second round of the event.
Up next for the Frenchman is sixth seeded Belarusian Uladzimir Ignatik.
