The former head coach of the Artemio Franchi outfit has gone on to laud his player’s performances, but remarked that they need to improve upon their finishing.
The Gigliati outfit were in action on Sunday against the Italian outfit, Inter Milan, in what was a tight affair which saw Fiorentina go down to ten men during the match. The match was played at the San Siro, and even though Vincenzo Montella’s outfit had
the greater possession during the match, they could not capitalise on their dominance.

However, despite lauding the opponents they were facing; Montella went on to comment
that his team played well too.
He further remarked that despite the extensive amounts of possession that his team had, they were not able to capitalise on it and make decisive incisions into the attacking third. He reiterated the importance of being more decisive in front of goal and
remarked that there was a need to work harder on the training ground.
He was talking to the media personnel of Sky Sport Italia, and during his interview, he went on to state:
“We always took the initiative, even after going down to 10 men. Unfortunately we don’t finish chances off well and all our possession doesn’t lead to that many shots on goal. It is important that we always take the game to our opponents, but we must also
learn to be more effective in front of goal.”
Montella remarked that he was expecting Inter Milan to be as aggressive as they were and also remarked that the Nerazzurri always capitalise on the opposition’s drop in concentration levels. He further remarked that the Nerazzurri outfit were extremely practical
during the match, and mentioned:
“On the other hand, Inter were very practical, but that was no surprise. We could’ve done something more and this match has to serve as a lesson for the future.”
