The former AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 caretaker head coach has gone on to state his appreciation and respect for the opposition he would be facing in the season opener of the Serie A.
Fiorentina have strengthened a great deal this summer, and there is a lot of expectations around the Artemio Franchi outfit after an extremely disappointing season in the Serie A during their last campaign. The higher expectations have been attested by many
players and pundits, who have stated that Fiorentina would be the team to look out for in the upcoming campaign.
Emiliano Mondonico was also praising Fiorentina’s transfers this summer and hopes for exciting things in the upcoming campaign. Pirlo has also lauded manager Vincenzo Montella and stated his feeling that Fiorentina would be performing well this season.
The opponents of the Artemio Franchi outfit in the season opener are Udinese, and they come on the back of a Champions League play off excursion during the mid week. Many have stated that the match would have physically drained the side and they would be
unable to compete at their usual intensity.
The Udine based outfit were held to a 1-1 draw by Sporting Braga this past Wednesday. However, Montella rubbished any such rumours and stated that they have a lot of strengths in their side; reserving special praise for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Di-Natale-c6306.
He further went on to state:
“I don’t think they are disadvantaged by playing the Champions League tie, as the team is certainly ready, above all psychologically. They are a solid unit and can count on Antonio Di Natale, an extraordinary striker.”
When quizzed about the results of la Viola in their recent match against Novara, Montella was quick to point out that they had made some fatal errors in the match, and he would work to eradicate them. He also said:
“In the Coppa Italia against Novara we made some mistakes that could prove fatal if repeated with Udinese. I don’t really like the famous Spain-style tiki-taka, as if after a long period of possession you lose the ball then Udinese can hit you on the break.”
Montella is optimistic about his side’s chances for the season but is also exercising caution along the way.
