The former AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254 situation.
The young coach is extremely happy with the transfer business conducted by his club in the last edition of the summer transfer window. The club has made 18 signings in their pursuit to improve in the Serie A rankings in the 2012-13 season.
The Viola outfit were embroiled in one controversy after another at the back end of last season. Results were not going their way either and they saw themselves in a relegation scuffle at the tail end of the 2011-12 campaign. Delio Rossi was sacked for assaulting
a player, and the club was making its way into the news for all the wrong reasons.
In an attempt to revamp their squad and start competing for more, Fiorentina went on to sign a new coach as well as a new sporting director. They signed Vincenzo Montella who had been the coach of Catania in the previous season, and has made his name as
a promising coach for the future.
Along with the acquisition of Montella, they also captured the signature of Daniele Prade, and the club have made many shrewd signings along the way. They have signed around 18 players this season and are looking to compete for the top 3 positions which
will guarantee them a place in the UEFA Champions League.
The Florence outfit were looking for a proven goal scorer, and negotiations for Berbatov were all but done, and he would have been a Fiorentina player had it not been for a last minute U turn to stay in the Premier League.
Montella commented on the target they ended up getting in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luca-Toni-c22526 and also remarked:
“Toni is in better shape than I could’ve expected. He’ll be an important player for us. When you return to a city where you had great success, you rediscover that energy and enthusiasm to amaze people all over again.”
He also condemned Berba’s decision, and mentioned:
“Berbatov? He made the wrong decision. I would ask Juve for an explanation as to what happened that day, but maybe I wouldn’t. I like my Fiorentina the way it is.”
Andrea Della Valle has entrusted the coach to bring back the glory years for the Florence based outfit.
