Catania manager, Vincenzo Montella, is keen to prove a point against his former employers, A.S Roma.
The Rossazzurri will host Luis Enrique’s men on Saturday, January 14th, 2012. Montella spent almost 12 years at Stadio Olimpico Rome as a player, and went onto manage their http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 after his retirement. He was appointed
as the caretaker manager in the latter half of the 2010/11 season, when Claudio Ranieri was sacked in February. Despite the impressive performances of the club under him, he was replaced by Luis Enrique in the summer.
The former Fulham star insisted that he is not looking for revenge against his former employers. He insisted that he is just looking to secure three important points against the Giallorossi. The former striker insisted that he
is enjoying his stay at the Stadio Angelo Massimino, and wants to help the club to success in future.
While talking to the reporters, Montella said,
“There is no desire for revenge. If we are talking about a hunger to win, then that is certainly here in spades. It is part of me. I am even competitive in my own home. I was on the score-sheet in that game, but I can assure you
that I didn’t ask myself too many questions. I am very happy in Catania and found the ideal environment to work in.”
Montella refused to talk about striker, Maxi Lopez’s, future at the club, and insisted that the owners will decide about his stay.
“I know there are negotiations in progress, but nothing more. You’d have to ask the club about his future.” added the former Italian international
Lopez was linked with a move to A.C Milan before the January transfer window, but the Rossoneri have backed off. The Italian Champions are interested in signing Manchester City striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez, instead.
Roma are placed 7th in the Serie A standings, whereas, Catania are 8th. The Elephants suffered a 2-0 defeat against Bologna in their recent league game over the weekend.
