Vincenzo Nibali aiming to make a comeback at the Tour de France 2012

Vincenzo Nibali is set to make a comeback at the Tour de France 2012. He was last seen in action at the French Grand Tour in 2009 as he finished 7th overall. It is believed that the cyclist will also ride at the Giro d’ Italia to help his teammate, Ivan
Basso.
Nibali is hoping to start the new season with the Tour de San Luis in Argentina and ride Tirreno-Adriatico, Tour of Basque country and Ardennes Classics.
He will then ride at the Tour de France 2012 and might also make an appearance at the Italian Grand Tour in 2012.
He told Gazzetta dello Sport, “There could also be the Giro. It’s more of a wish than a plan, more of a desire than an objective”.
The 27-year-old admitted that he needs to start the 2012 season early on in order to secure some wins to his credit.
He mentioned, “I’ll start racing again to win, looking for a win, because victory adds sense to so many of our efforts and responsibilities”.
While commenting on his previous performance Nibali said, “2011 was a year without wins, and so I’ll remember it with disappointment. It can happen and it did happen, but I rode well, at the front, always fighting with the best, so I have nothing to admonish
myself for”.
The Italian finished 3rd overall at the Giro d’ Italia 2011 and secured the 5th position at the Tirreno-Adriatico. He finished 8th at the Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Milan-San Remo during the 2011 season.
Despite not landing on the podium as he did earlier on, Nibali was content with his overall performance. However, he acknowledged that he needed to gear up for the coming season.
He will represent the Italian team for the 2012 season and will be accompanied by Peter Sagan, Ivan Basso, Alessandro Vanotti, Daniel Oss and Fabio Sabatini.
Vincenzo aims to start the coming season earlier in order to ride as many races as he can. He has also shown interest in participating at the Worlds as the cyclist is keen to bag some wins to make up for his failures in 2011.
