Vinegar question...?

I'm making a marinade for Asian Flank Steak and I used RED wine vinegar instead of RICE wine vinegar...oops...what's the difference and is there anything I can add now instead of going out and getting the right (rice) vinegar and starting over? Thanks a lot.

  1. Since the meat is red, the red vinegar won't stain it, and you won't find a significant difference in the flavor. So just go ahead and it will be fine.

  2. I would add some sugar, rice wine vinegar is very sweet, red wine vinegar is not. depending on how much the recipe called for, add appropriate sugar, for example if it called for 1 cup of vin, add about a tablespoon of sugar.

  3. You will be just fine, specially if it is not Asian recipe.

apple cider vinegar (also add a pinch of sugar if you like) OR white or red wine vinegar OR 3 parts white vinegar + 1 part water

  4. With your fine, Pork or Chicken maybe not so good.

  5. you should be fine with red wine vinegar.

  6. Your fine if you prefer red wine vinegar over rice it doesn't matter.

  7. It should be fine. The red wine vinegar is actually a little milder in taste and of course a different color, but okay.
