  1. Where I lived in Washington state they planted them so the sides were east/west (ends were north/south).  It provides more sunlight and less shadow.  If the sun rose and set at the ends it would only hit the outer most leaves.


  2. For all fruits and vegetables, run the rows north to south to avoid one row shading the next.
