The most accomplished entry for the race is Vinnies Contessa, Flying Penske’s three-year-old black daughter out of b***h, Dogzilla.
She cracked into the season on 10th January in the Local Parking Security Super Stayers at Hall Green over 670 metres. She timed the track distance in 41.34 seconds and led the runner up of the race, Hee Haws Montana, by 7 ¾ lengths.
Settling third was Farloe Gambit while the 13/8 favourite of the race, Aldataro Lass, ended fifth.
His next five races could not be transformed into wins and finally led to a drilling session on 9th March at Monmore over 264 metres. Vinnies Contessa completed the task in 15.73 seconds.
The training did not help much as the three-year-old stationed fourth in the Ladbrokes.Com 835 on 15th March at Monmore over 835 metres. She took 53.00 seconds to finish the race while the evening’s joint favourites, Powerfast Pigeon and Aero Gaga, ended as the winner and the runner up.
Another training session on 28th March saw Vinnies Contessa winning a 480 metres race at Monmore by clocking the track distance in 28.57 seconds. Joining the winner after leaping through the three and a half lengths’ gap was Coolykereen Dip.
She then finished third in the Ladbrokes Super Stayers on 18th April at Hall Green over 670 metres after taking 41.59 seconds to reach the other end of the wire.
Ballymac William followed in as the 2/1 joint favourite runner up after timing the distance in 41.37 seconds.
The other joint favourite of the race, Bush Whitney, ended fifth.
Her third and till yet last win was in a 480 metres race at Monmore which she settled in 28.98 seconds. Taking control of the final three lengths, she made Coolykereen Dip settle as the runner up.
The very recent try had Vinnie Contessa qualifying as the runner up.
Keeping the performance consistent for the last four races makes her a reliable candidate for the race tonight.
