Question:

Vintage Camera Question?

I recently acquired a vintage camera. It is a 1A Kodak Autographic Jr. The first day I was able to open the film compartment on the back, but now it seems to be locked in place. How do you open the back on this camera? It has two buttons on the side, but they don't seem to push in or anything. Also, is it possible to still get film for this camera? It says it takes 116.

  1. If you are handy to a camera store you might want to take it in.  They should know how to open it and should be able to tell you.  If the camera has been sitting a while the latch may need to be lightly lubed.  They should know how to do that as well.

I think you can get the film, but the camera store should be able to help you with that as well.

I know you can still buy some roll films, but I'm not familiar with 116 or with this type of camera.

  2. I have a Kodak No.1. / 620 film.  These things are a bit persnickety. My suggestion is the same as the above. Take the camera to your local camera shop, one that deals with vintage and film cameras, and talk to them.

Your cam probably needs cleaning and lubricating. Easy to do.
