Question:

Vinyl siding on my house?

I am going to put vinyl siding on my house but I am having a hard time picking out a color. Does anyone know a site where I can download a picture of my house and then paint it on line. That way I can try some different colors to see what it would look like. Thanks

  1. Would there be any way I could talk you out of this move?  It is a not so great material in that it ages poorly, tends to split and fade, is made of petroleum products, does not recycle.

I am going to give you a link that should help.  Although I am an architect, I do not specialize in residential projects.  I have no commercial interest here, just responsible living.

    Please reconsider your material chioce!

    Thanks!  :)

  2. I don't mean to sound vague but I think this will give you everything and more than what you are looking for.  Go to www.vinylsiding.org.  This is the Vinyl Siding Institute web page that most manufacturers are a member of.  Go to the certified product list or put in the search line.  This will take you to another web page that is Arch. testing labs   This is a third party contracted to test the products the mfg make for VSI certification.  In the certification list you can organize by company profile. Each company will have an icon that will take you to their home page.  Their most but not all will have a service that you can download your pic to.  Try Alcoa, or Certainteed.  Their are two certifications 1 for the product itself the other is for color fading.  This will enable you to pick the best product for yourself....Hope this helps....
