Vinyl siding why is different colours different prices?

Question

was looking at siding for my house its a turn key house so i pick out the siding i want well chose from a few i wanted a dark blue which was not on the list it was same siding just different colour and it was $3000 more then the sage green i was looking at why is this

It's less popular and it's a special order that they're getting just for you. They have to buy just enough for your home and not in bulk.

The builder can't buy it in bulk the same way he/she can with a more popular siding.
