Viola Da Gamba seeking for seasonal success in the Spire ST Saviour’s Hospital Hythe Handicap
The Class 5 Spire ST Saviour’s Hospital Hythe Handicap has pulled up five three-year-old contestants for the race at Folkestone over a mile and four furlongs. It carries the prize money of £2,264 and will be held on Wednesday, 30th May.
Only one of the entries has raced there and scored a second position during the previous season. Viola Da Gamba has however maintained consistency in the three races that she has been a part of ever since the new season took off.
Alhaarth’s three-year-old bay filly out of mare, Addaya, exited the previous season by qualifying as the runner up in the Toteswinger/British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes on 21st August at Folkestone over seven furlongs.
The race was taken away by the 15/8 favourite of the race, Ziefhd, who led the track by 1 ¾ lengths while riding with Chris Catlin.
Finishing the closest was Viola Da Gamba while picking up the third slot was Ashbina.
All the three races of the new season have culminated into a third position for the three-year-old filly.
She cracked into the new season on 21st March in the Win Big With Betdaq Multiples Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Kempton over seven furlongs. Making it to the other end of the wire before any of the rest was Dellbuoy while joining right after closing in on the neck’s difference was Emman Bee.
The 5/4 favourite of the race, Viola Da Gamba, stationed third on the field of eight.
Her second outing of the season was in the Lingfieldpark.Co.UK Median Auction Maiden Fillies’ Stakes on 4th April at Lingfield over a mile. The race was won by the 11/10 favourite, Moment In Time, who had Martin Lane onboard. Concluding the race the closest was White Flight while settling into the third slot was Viola Da Gamba.
Her third attempt of the season ended with the same result. She managed capturing the third place in the Betdaq Mobile Apps Median Auction Maiden Stakes on 9th May at Kempton over a mile and three furlongs.
She has posted a second score through the only race at Folkestone and has the ability to notch that up to a win by exploiting the chance today.
