Question:

Violence and double standards?

I'd just come out from an open forum dealing with Violence against women but time was cut short and I didn't get to ask my question during the program so I'd like to address this question to whoever comes across this page.

Do you believe that there may be a double standard when looking at violence against people? For example when violence happens to women things are given so much focus to the point wherein the media gets involved, different feminist groups get involved, etc. but when violence against men happen, things are almost dismissed because of an assumption that men are capable of protecting themselves against violence.

Just wanted to know your opinion. Thanks!

  1. I understand what you mean, there is far more pressure put on a man for hitting a woman because "he's a man" & apparently stronger & stuff & ppl see it as morally incorrect & its like "you just hit a woman"..i guess you hear of that more in the media than woman hitting men..i think the media think like "oh well, hes a man he can take it" nowone should have to take that, the whole thing is messed up!!!

  2. I agree with you. There are double standards. Regards UK
