The 23-year-old score-gun, who was recently elevated to vice captaincy, claimed that his coach played a pivotal role in his grooming which has allowed him to fulfill his potential on the international front, describing it as dream come true scenario for
him.
“I never thought I would share the dais with such stalwarts of the game. This is an honour for me. I am lucky to have got a coach like Rajkumar sir. Because of him only I am in the Indian team," he said.
Rajkumar, 46, has not played international cricket but has the experience of playing first-class cricket for Delhi in the Rajni Trophy. He runs a West Delhi Cricket Academy (WDCA) and is a National Cricket Academy level-B Coach. His academy has been producing
some of the top cricketers, including Kohli.
"From the beginning, Kohli wanted to bat for long at the crease. His biggest assets are commitment and concentration. I am confident that like in the ODIs he will also do well in Test cricket," said Rajkumar.
The right-handed aggressive batsman also mentioned the name of former Indian cricketer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bishan-Singh-Bedi-c48133, whose guidance regarding fitness has proved to be extremely valuable.
“I remember when I was taking part in a U-15 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Ranjitsinhji-c71870 team also. Then coach Bishan Bedi sir told me to give emphasis on fitness and I now know how important it is to be in top fitness in cricket," said Kohli.
