India’s blazing opening batsman, Virender Sehwag, is confident of making an International comeback during the upcoming home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, saying that he has been a lot better these days.
Sehwag represented his local side, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780, in a domestic Twenty20 match against Jammu and Kashmir at Rohtak, on Friday, October 21, 2011. Although, he failed to shine with the bat and went back to the dressing room after facing a couple of deliveries but
notably bowled two overs, something he was struggling with since his injury almost five months ago.
Sehwag joined Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 during recent the England tour, but failed to continue his journey after playing a couple of Test matches, as he was not hundred percent fit.
The Men in Blue are currently engaged in a five-match One Day International (ODI) series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and their next outing will be a crunch home series against West Indies, set to start with the first Test on November 6, 2011.
The 33-year-old opener is hopeful of resuming International cricket during the forthcoming series, but elucidated that he will play only after gaining complete fitness.
"This game helped me test my fitness. I can bat and bowl as well. I am still having trouble with my throwing. I am doing my strengthening exercises and following the fitness routine. My target is to get fit for the West Indies series.
But before that I need to undergo a fitness test. I will play only if I feel fit and fine," Sehwag told
Hindustan Times after the domestic match.
After defeating Jammu and Kashmir by four wickets, Delhi’s next http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 on Saturday, October 22, 2011. The blistering opener will not participate in today’s contest but may play in a couple of matches, scheduled to
be played in next week.
Although, the new opening duo, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajinkya-Rahane-c970, has been displaying a good show for India in the current ODI series against England, the side is yet to find a good opening combination for the longest version of the sport. Therefore, Sehwag’s
return during the Test series against the Windies will be extremely crucial for the World Champions.
